Monday August 26th, 2019

Fun day! I left for Indiana at 6:15 this morning! Right now I'm on the train heading to the airport. I'm so excited to finally get out of this place and into Indiana to teach the gospel and bring others unto christ.
Nothing really big happened in the last week. Except for that Elder David A. Bednar came and spake at our devotional on last Tuesday, it was the most exciting thing ever. He talked about being a good boy and a good girl in order to be able to be a tool for the lord.
Other than that there hasn't been anything big in the last few days, just finishing up my classes!

We are so excited to welcome Elder Weist to the Indiana Indianapolis Mission!  He arrived with a large group late tonight.  We picked him up, drove by the Temple, and brought him to the Mission Home for dinner and rest.  We already feel a great love for him and look forward to getting to know him better.  We also feel the Lord's love for him and anticipate great things to come in this part of the Lord's vineyard.
Attached is a picture that we took with Elder Weist .  We are in the process of creating a Facebook Page for our mission and will send  you the link when it is ready.
Warmly,
President and Sister Page

August 20th, 2019

Week two has been a completely different experience. After that first P-day time started to fly. Our schedules were also more set, so we were able to have free time every day which we have been using to play uno or watch church movies because there's literally nothing else to do here.
We also started our TRCs last week. I can't remember if I mentioned Caleb, but he was our first one. The TRC is just someone who is either a nonmember who wants to learn about the church, or they are a member acting like they are a nonmember. Me and Elder Simmons (my companion) have had some very good lessons and so far none of our people have had any problems with understanding what we have to say.
It's also been really nice to be able to have an hour every day to exercise and play sports with my district. We stuck to basketball for a while but sometime last week we decided to play volleyball as well which has been super fun because I'm 6'3 and am very good at volleyball anyways.
We also had an amazing devotional on Sunday about the things that people use to prove the book of mormon wrong. There are a lot of things out there that people use to prove it wrong. Like, Joseph Smith was too dumb, other people wrote it, Joseph Smith was a secret genius. Some others included concrete,  barley, and writing on valuable metals didn't exist in ancient America. But the guy who was talking was able to find ways to prove every single one of those things wrong and then finished off with saying it doesn't even matter because if we read it and pray about it we will know it's true and won't need to prove anything to anyone. We have honestly used Moroni 10: 3-5 quite a bit here and have loved the promise and felt that conformation so many times.
I leave for Indiana next Monday at 6:15AM. So I'll be able to Email everyone around that time next Monday.
Also remember that everyone can still send letters and packages and emails all week. I can read them I just can't respond to them.

August 13th, 2019

Well the first six days have been a blast. The elders in my district are hilarious, last night we even kept each other up past 11:30pm... there's never a dull moment with them.

The first two days felt like 6 years. Time definitely works different here. But we made it past Sunday so it should be super fast from here on out.

There's a LOT of demolition going on here building wise. I'm sure anyone who has been here before won't recognize it by the time I leave. They're actually having us all move around and switch the buildings up so that they can start even more tomorrow.

My companion is super fun. He's like all my friends from home, mixed together. He's been awesome to have as a companion while we are learning how to spread the gospel to others.

Oh also! All the 6 elders in my district are also going to Indiana and on top of that a bunch of other elders and sisters are too! We did the math and there's 24 people going there in all. The sisters in my district are going to Everett Washington.
The best part about the MTC so far was waking up with the flu yesterday ☺. It was a really hard day but one of the best things about the MTC is that there's priesthood holders all around. So I got a blessing and I woke up almost completely better.

Also don't forget, I am allowed to receive packages here... (we're all competing to see who gets the most because there's nothing else to compete in here☺) so If you want to send snacks or letters or anything, ask my mother for the shipping instructions at jaclynweist@gmail.com.

I finished Mosiah and I'm halfway through Alma. I definitely enjoy the stories in those scriptures and how we are able to get doctrine out of all of them. Everyone in my district loves me because I have probably around 60 tabs on my gospel library. Making it super easy to find specific categories of scriptures.

There's been a few struggles here. For example, this phone is a Samsung which is a bad phone. That is all.

Elder Metcalf deserves the best for last. He's the funniest guy here and I've written more about him in my journal, then I have anything else. He's been a blast and we are never not laughing around him.
